Course Outline : - sports & action photography in Lancelin whilst capturing stunning images of sand-boarding and dune biking in the pristine white sand dunes; wind surfing, kite-boarding and surfing - Lancelin is a world class location for water sports - landscape & portrait photography at The Pinnacles Nambung National Park: these eerie yellow sandstone outcrops are best shot at dusk. Join us for sunset drinks whilst letting your creativity run wild in this location - fabulous for up skilling in fashion photography and portraits! - macro and flora : High breakaway country overlooking low undulating sand plains in the Badgingarra National Park is ideal to refine your skills in macro and landscapes. The park is renowned for its incredible diversity of endemic wildflowers - architecture, food and wine : capture the Spanish style of architecture of New Norcia with its old boarding schools, the Abbey Church, an old mill, a wine press, a hotel and the monastery where the Benedictine monks still run the iconic bakery, maintain olive oil production and produce port and ale - lifestyle : the Chittering Valley Wildflower Festival in Bindoon is a great way to cap off our great photography weekend shooting vintage cars and bikes, characters at the farmers markets and a final opportunity to shoot more wildflowers

It is the ideal 'all rounder' course for beginners to advanced level photographers, ideal for any traveler, armchair travelers, photographers of all levels with any type of imaging capturing device (including film), cruise ship passengers, adventure seekers, travel writers, travel agents, tour operators..... anyone who wants to come back with much better travel images.

A camera to suit the occasion: The course emphasises the need to be versatile in your photography - to use different image capturing devices whether its an iphone or a full frame $4000 SLSR. To to be able to adapt your shooting style to suit varying conditions of a region or event. If its raining you learn to shoot macro and portraiture, if its classic landscapes, you may have to wait days for the perfect light. Its horses for courses..... a full frame DLSR Nikon, Sony or Canon with a quality lens will produce unsurpassed resolution, quality and clarity for a huge wall mural. if you enjoy photographing colourful, indigenous people then go to Rajasthan or Peru.

Less is more - less clutter in desert regions means cleaner backdrops and strong composition, less heavy camera gear means you have more energy to explore Venice from first light to twilight. Less gear means freedom to mingle with the locals in Zanzibar and a light compact allows you to shoot unobtrusively. On an African safari, you traditionally needed at least a 300mm lens and a good DSLR digital a $400 Nikon Hybrid with a 60x zoom will deliver outstanding results. A $900 drone will deliver amazing 4K video on your next Himalayan trek and a Iphone 6S sharp, clear, dramatic panos of your Kerala backwaters holiday.

Course content: Every course participant gets custom tailored advice on their gear, what / where to buy, destination shooting tips, knowledge on cameras, lens, accessories and the best deals. Detailed notes give tips on etiquette, security, the best time to go, image storage, battery life, camera care, security issues and much more. We are strong advocates of using an image capturing device to suit the location, your mood and objectives.

This flowers and wilderness travel photography course is a ‘hands on’ outdoors course. We use a variety of locations to give you a feel for scenarios you will encounter throughout the world. Shooting boats and water at Lancelin is similar to shooting on a Corsica sailing holiday, the tips on architecture photography at New Norcia can be transported to taking pictures in Toledo and the white sandy beaches along this WA coast give you skills in shooting snow-covered scenes in polar and alpine regions.

Accommodation | Meals | Travel : Accommodation will be overnight at Cervantes. A share accommodation option is available on request. We have a Toyoto Prado 7 seater vehicle. There will be provision for 4 people to join us in this vehicle for the weekend. Please contact us if your would like this option. Please note that the cost of accommodation, meals and travel is not included in the course cost. Course cost : $590.00

  • We recommend you have a compact, mirror-less DLSR camera or smart phone

  • At least one quality multi range lens such as a 18-200mm or a 17-85mm

  • A wide angle 12-24mm is useful for landscapes. A 100-300mm (or more) for wildlife

  • Memory Card(s): we recommend at least a 4 GB card

  • Charged camera battery and a spare

  • Polarizing filter, external flash unit, tripod, bean bag (optional)

Paying for your course in full upon booking will confirm your attendance. Places are limited on all courses.

We reserve the right to cancel and reschedule any course, due to inadequate enrolment bad weather, instructor illness, or an 'act of God'. We also reserve the right to cancel any course if there is insufficient demand, especially if it means that our costs would be higher than our income. Please therefore do not leave it until the last few weeks if you are interested in a particular date, as you may find that it has been cancelled. As our costs for each training event remain the same no matter how many delegates attend, like any pre-booked tickets for the theatre, concert, flights etc, we are unable to give a full refund in the event of non-attendance, regardless of the circumstances. If withdrawal occurs within the 14 days before the course starts we will try to put you on an alternative date if places are available. Please note that we cannot be liable for any other costs incurred by yourself, so please check with us before booking any non-refundable accommodation or transport.
