DESCRIPTION: |
Magnificent castles
and gardens,
highland adventure,
dramatic coastline,
discover for
yourself the best
that Scotland has to
offer, here in its
North-East corner.
Spectacular scenery,
picturesque
harbours, frolicking
dolphins,
distinctive
distilleries,
fairytale turrets,
tranquil hideaways
and centuries of
Scottish culture.
The Grampian
Highlands & Aberdeen
region is a
microcosm of the
best of Scotland in
scenic terms, from
soaring mountain
tops, including the
high peaks of the
Cairngorm Mountains,
down to a
magnificent
coastline, rugged
moor land,
breathtaking wooded
valleys like the
Glenlivet estate and
wonderful rolling
farmlands.
The touring
photographer can
enjoy not just the
picturesque former
fishing villages and
the larger fishing
ports but also
unspoilt beaches,
spectacular cliffs,
wildlife galore.
Connoisseurs of
architecture have a
veritable feast of
castles, grand
mansions and stately
houses to photograph
and appreciate. And
those interested in
the traditional way
of life will be
fascinated with the
juxtaposition of
fishing, farming and
whisky distilling -
the region's staple
industries whose
quality produce and
brands are exported
worldwide to much
acclaim.
Washed by the North
Sea, the coastline
of Grampian
Highlands is long
and varied. There
are sheer, high
cliffs, secluded
"smugglers" coves,
pebbly beaches and
miles of clean
golden sand. The
coastline of the
north-east of
Scotland is one of
the most
fascinating,
unspoilt and varied
stretches of any in
Britain. Many of the
communities which
have grown up by the
edge of the sea have
at one time earned
their living from
it. Today their
heritage is the tiny
fishing harbours as
well as the
traditions of
colourful paintwork
which protects their
dwellings from the
salty winds.
The region is also
renowned for its
food and cooking.
With such a choice
of fresh produce
from farmland, river
and sea, and game
from the moors, the
traditional cooking
of the area relies
on the fresh, full
flavours of the
product. We will be
photographing all of
this local produce
and of course be
eating it!
The
photographic
subjects we cover
are fully
comprehensive making
this the ultimate
‘all rounder’
photographic
experience!. We
cover landscapes,
seascapes,
architecture, flora
and fauna
photography, still
life, documentary,
portraiture, camera
handling.... with an
analysis
and critique
of
all images. |
