DESCRIPTION: |
Our walk encompasses
the old and the new,
sharp geometric
lines to soft,
romantic hues,
close-up photography
to panoramic vistas
down the harbour....
We examine form and
texture, patterns,
framing the picture,
camera tilt, leading
lines and the rules
of thirds.
Throughout, you
learn how to
maximize the full
functionality of
your camera.
We
explore the unusual
angles of the Sydney
Opera House, one of
the world's most
photographed
buildings,
contrasting it with
the serenity of the
Botanical Gardens.
Walking around
Circular Quay we
photograph -
buskers, mime
artists, a model
shipbuilder, and of
course Sydneysiders.
The colourful Rocks
district offers a
compelling visual
history of the story
of European
settlement in
Australia.
Restoration of old
buildings has
preserved the areas
charm and character.
We take you down
cobblestone lanes,
up to Observatory
Hill and under the
Harbour Bridge. We
pause for a breather
in one of The Rocks
oldest hotels -the
Palisade and
checkout it's
'regulars'.
Refreshed we head
for Pier 4 finger
wharf with its
textured, rustic
facades and fine
views of the Sydney
Harbour Bridge.
Walking around the
foreshore to
Campbell's Cove, we
arrive at the
colourful Rocks
market stalls. Here
fill flash is needed
to provide shadow
detail. Rain or
shine, winter or
summer, its
ever-changing moods
and huge variety of
photographic
subjects makes the
Rocks and Gardens
workshop one of the
best ways over a
short time frame to
quickly improve your
photographic skills. |
