Advanced Photography Course

■ Any full or cropped frame DSLR camera, mirrorless camera, quality compact or hi end smartphone

■ Memory Card(s): we recommend at least a 8 GB card for the full 7 hour course

■ Charged camera battery and a spare if you have one

■ A wide-angle is useful for landscapes. A telephoto for wildlife

■ Whilst this is not a physically demanding course you should be able to walk 3-5km over the course of 7 hours

Is this course suitable for me? How about my camera gear?
■ This course is suitable for advanced amateurs to serious semi pro photographers alike - the course is jam packed with advance learning tips and tricks to step your photography up the another level.

■ It's mandatory to have some background photography knowledge. If you are unsure as to your skill level, we have a simple 20 question test to send you. You can also opt to do the Beginners course at a discounted package rate for the two courses.

■ Any full or cropped frame DSLR camera, mirrorless camera or compact (with manual controls) is ideal. Full frame camera's with their bigger sensors will give better results in certain situations. We also cater for hi end smartphones

■ Whilst we recommend you have a DLSR or mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, you could also do this entire day course with a quality compact with full manual controls such as a Sony DX100, Lumix LX100, Yashica, Canon, Nikon, Fuji or equivalent. We also cater for smartphones.

■ A wide angle lens eg 16-35mm (on a full frame camera) or 10-22mm (on a cropped sensor camera); a telephoto lens eg. 70-300mm or 70-200mm; a mid range lens eg 24-105mm or 24-70mm. A few prime lenses such as a 50mm f1.8 are a useful addition to your kit.

■ An external on-camera flash unit is not essential but good to have.

■ A tripod, U/V and polarising filter. A tripod is essential. We have free loan tripods if you do not yet have one.

■ While its non essential - a five-in-one reflector is useful (eg a 42" is ideal)

How many people will be on my course?
■ A maximum of 6 persons for a highly personalised learning experience. This insures plenty of one on one attention.
■ We do cater for larger groups by bringing in other tutors and splitting the groups into teams. Talk to us about your special requirements such as a 'team building' Advanced Photography course for your government organisation, company, camera club or group of friends.

What happens if its raining?
Bring a raincoat and/or umbrella as some of the best photos are taken in the rain. We have a number of indoor shooting location options. We also offer a 'repeat for free' weather guarantee. Join the course anyway. If the weather is really bad we will do a few hours and you then receive a gift voucher to come back at another time. This voucher can be gifted to another party.

Will the course generally run on the scheduled date & time?
Our policy is the course will run with a minimum of 2 persons. As in any advertised product or service - events (such as Covid 19) can occur out of our control. We reserve the right to cancel or defer any course in extenuating circumstances. You will be issued a course credit to use at another time.

Can I rent a DLSR camera? Buy SD cards?
Yes - we have cropped sensor Nikon Camera's for rent. The fee is $50 ( payable beforehand or on the day via card or cash) Your loan camera will have a standard 24-120mm lens ( or equivalent), a prime 50mm f1.8 and a Speedlite flash. We sell Lexar hi speed 32GB SD cards for $24 (or bring your own SD card)

What are some of the indoor & outdoor locations we photograph at?
Watsons Bay, South head, Vaucluse House & Bondi Beach

Do you provide transport to these locations?
Yes we do. Most persons drive to Watsons Bay anyway and will have their own vehicle to then drive themselves to Vaucluse House & then to Bondi Beach.
Parking fees at Watsons Bay & Bondi Beach are at the expense of the person driving. If you do not want to be bothered driving you have 2 options.

Option 1: Take the Sydney Harbour ferry and meet our group at Watsons Bay. You will have transport with us to Vaucluse House and Bondi and we drop you off at Edgecliff train station at the end of the course.

Option 2: We pick up clients at Edgecliff train station and drop you off there after the course finishes.

Andrew gave our staff training in how to get better social media shots on our smartphones in on location at our farms in Murrurundi NSW and Canungra QLD. This has to be one of the best value and most comprehensive beginners photography courses. A huge amount of content, outside shooting with 10 workshops, 2 night sessions and an additional 4 hour workshop of our choice.
